Gutter & Downspout Cleaning

Do you hate cleaning gutters? Are you nervous to get up on a shaky ladder to clean those high gutters?

A proper gutter cleaning maintenance program is vital to preserve the exterior of your property.

Clogged and overflowing gutters and downspouts can lead to roof damage, foundation cracks, water infiltration in basements, and even deck or patio damage.

Standing water in gutters can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other insects. In winter, ice dams in gutters can cause gutters to be pulled away completely from the structure, causing damage to gutters, fascia, and soffit.

Water infiltration in basements due to overflowing gutters can cause mold problems and damage flooring and finishes. The price of a regular gutter system cleaning is relatively small when compared to that of repairing the damage that a clogged system can cause.

Frequently Asked Questions

A proper gutter cleaning maintenance program is vital to preserve the exterior of your property. Gutter cleaning is a dangerous and dirty occupation. Sure, you can risk life and limb by climbing onto the roof using that rickety old ladder. You probably even have good health and life insurance, but why risk it? Why not sit back and watch the game and leave it to the professionals? Sure, you could have your neighbor do it, or hire a local teenager, …. or you could protect yourself from the potential for emergency room bills and lawsuits by leaving it to licensed and insured experts who do this for a living.

That depends on the location of your home and the kind and proximity of trees in the area. We suggest a minimum of once a year if there are no trees close to your home. If you live in a wooded area it is highly recommended that you have your gutters cleaned twice per year—late spring (May-June) and fall (November-December).

That depends on the size of your home, the number of downspouts and the number of storeys. Simply give Skweeky Kleen Windows a call, and we would be happy to stop by and give you a free, no-obligation estimate. You don’t even need to be home, as long as you don’t mind us walking around the outside of your home to inspect your gutter system. Then we can email you a written estimate, or give you a call with the price.

Our gutter system deep cleaning includes removal of all debris, sediment and shingle gravel. All downspouts are checked for clogs, and elbows are snaked or removed as necessary to remove blockages. All gutters and downspouts are thoroughly flushed with water to ensure proper drainage and water flow. Any problems and potential maintenance issues will be promptly reported to you. All debris is bagged and removed from the premises. All sidewalks, patios and lawn areas are checked for residual debris. We will take complimentary before and after photos so that you can see that the work has been completed to your satisfaction.

We are able to perform minor gutter repairs for an extra fee.

The goal of our technicians is to leave your property cleaner than they found it. That is why we put all gutter and downspout debris into large garbage bags and haul it away. We will make sure that all sidewalks, lawns and patio areas are free of any residual debris from gutter cleaning.

Not unless you want to, or unless there are pets that need to be put up, or gates that need to be unlocked. Typically, as long as we have access to a water faucet, we can just get on with deep cleaning your gutters and downspouts. When we are finished, we will leave you an invoice, and you can send us a check when you are ready.

If persistent, heavy rain or severe thunderstorms are forecast, we will call you to reschedule. Otherwise, we will keep the appointment.

Depending on the type of gutter guard, there may be a small fee for removal because of the extra time involved. However, Skweeky Kleen Windows will not be responsible for reinstalling any gutter guards. Plastic gutter guards become brittle over time and often break during removal. Aluminum gutter guards tend to warp and deform during removal, making reinstallation difficult or impossible. In our experience gutter guards have limited usefulness. They may postpone a proper gutter cleaning, but do not replace it. After all, if your gutter guards had kept your gutters clean, you would probably not be reading this! We would be happy to remove your current gutter guards and dispose of them for you. That will make your gutter system easier (and possibly cheaper) to access for future cleanings.
